CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Tenn. — A Stone Memorial High School student was charged with making threats of mass violence, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

CCSO said the student made "alarming statements" to other students on Wednesday, with several of them telling a teacher.

"The District Threat Response Team," which consists of school officials, members of the Crossville Police Department, CCSO and the Office of Homeland Security, all responded to investigate the threat.

No weapons were found, and there was no threat to students, CCSO said.

"As a result of the prompt actions taken by school officials and law enforcement, the school was able to continue operations without interruption, avoiding the need for any type of lockdown," the sheriff's office said.
