BROOKLYN (WABC) -- A 25-year-old purported street gang member was charged Wednesday in connection with a late summer mass shooting in Brooklyn that killed three and injured ten.

Elijah Roy, who prosecutors said is an associate of the Bloods subset, is charged with assault and with being a felon in possession of ammunition.

He was arrested in North Carolina and was due in Brooklyn Federal court on Wednesday.

"As alleged, the defendant and other associates of a violent gang unleashed gunfire in the middle of a crowded bar, creating a killing zone that, in a matter of seconds, left three people dead and 10 victims wounded," said United States Attorney Joseph Nocella.

The FBI blamed a gang turf war for the shooting.
