Police have begun digging on scrubland near a river in the ongoing search for a mum who disappeared 20 years ago on her way to work.

Malgorzata Wnuczek, who was 27 at the time, vanished on 31 May 2006 and her whereabouts remain a mystery.

The Polish national was last seen after taking a bus from her job at Peter Jackson Logistics into Leicester city centre.

Her family, who affectionately called her Gosia, last heard from her via a text message two days prior to her disappearance.
