Manchester City were held to a frustrating 2-2 stalemate by Monaco in the Champions League at Stade Louis-II on Wednesday night in their second European game of the season.

Erling Haaland scored the 51st goal of his career in the competition after a quarter of an hour, with the striker latching onto the end of a chipped pass before tapping the ball over shot-stopper Philipp Kohn 's head.

The hosts were level moments later when Jordan Teze 's long-range strike beat Gianluigi Donnarumma , but Haaland netted his 52nd Champions League goal just before half time with a header into the left side of the net.

Monaco were awarded a late penalty in the second half, with their pressure paying off when Eric Dier converted in the 90th minute.
