EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - The East Lansing boys basketball team will be on a mission to repeat as state champions this upcoming season.

KJ Torbert is viewed as one of the top players in the state and will be returning for his senior season with the Trojans.

On Wednesday, surrounded by his family, Torbert announced his commitment to Bowling Green, who is led by Fowler native Todd Simon and has former Spartan Lourawls "Tum-Tum" Nairn as an assistant coach.

"I was surrounded by a great coaching staff, and they said I would be one of their top guys if I came," Torbert said. "I've been around (Tum-Tum) since I was little. So, I had to make the decision."

As a junior last season, Torbert averaged 20 points per game and scored 16 points in the state championship win over Wayne Memorial.
