CLEVELAND, Ohio - A Westlake man has pleaded guilty to beating a woman and leaving her in the street earlier this year.

On Tuesday, Jahard Colon, 23, admitted to committing felonious assault after authorities said he beat and strangled a woman on April 23.

The woman was found lying on Canterbury Road, near Center Ridge Road in Westlake, barely conscious, prompting 911 calls from bystanders, cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer reported.

The woman was beaten so badly that paramedics took her to the intensive care unit at UH-St. John Medical Center, authorities said.

Colon faced charges of attempted murder, felonious assault, domestic violence and strangulation, court records show. Prosecutors dismissed all of the charges except felonious assault.
