CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A Charlotte grandmother is angry and frustrated with the local court system after her granddaughter’s murder. It’s been five years, and Mary Collins’ family is still waiting for the case to go to trial.
One of the people charged in connection to the murder is out on bond.
Mia Alderman, Collins’ grandmother, said her granddaughter’s case is part of a bigger issue in Mecklenburg County.
“It was too much of an ordeal and too complicated,” Alderman said. “It’s wrong, and action needs to be taken.”
New court filings allege the suspect, America Diehl, is out on bond and has repeatedly violated the terms of her bond. Diehl is charged with accessory after the fact and concealing a death.
