A Charlottesville resident was among the three victims killed in a mass shooting Sept. 27 in Southport, North Carolina.

According to a news release from the city of Southport, Soloman Banjo, 36, of Charlottesville, Virginia; Joy Rogers, 64, of Southport, and Michael Durbin, 56, of Galena, Ohio, were killed in the shooting.

Nigel Max Edge, 40, of Oak Island, was arrested and charged with three counts of first-degree murder, five counts of attempted first-degree murder, and five counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. At a press conference the day after the incident, law enforcement said additional charges are forthcoming.
