KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Federally funded programs could see an impact from the government shutdown, with Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee saying it will continue to support families if that happens.

According to the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee, some USDA programs could be impacted if this government shutdown continues, affecting hundreds of thousands of Tennesseans.

During the last government shutdown in 2018, which lasted over a month, Executive Director Elaine Streno said there was a major impact here in Tennessee, and the longer the government is shut down, the more the need for things like food grows.
