ROCKFORD, Ill. — A jury reached a multi-million-dollar verdict on a local crash that killed two people and left others with injuries in 2018.

On Tuesday, a Winnebago County jury awarded $67 million to the families of Fred Krischon and Ruthie Fairchild after they were killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Stockton seven years ago. Krischon's son, Bob Krischon, was also seriously hurt in the crash.

The crash on U.S. Route 20

Around 1:45 p.m. on May 20, 2018, 56-year-old Bob Krischon and then-88-year-old Fred Krischon were driving on US 20 eastbound, a two-lane highway. The Krischons were driving behind a semi-truck owned by Panera Bread and driven by Eluid Valencia.
