HARTVILLE, Mo. — The Wright County Sheriff has announced his retirement that will go into effect on Saturday, Nov. 1.
According to a Wright County Sheriff's Office social media post, Sonny Byerley announced his departure as sheriff on Wednesday, Oct. 1, stating his appreciation to the staff, first responders, the commission and the community he served.
"Over the years, I have witnessed firsthand the strength, dedication, and resilience of those I have had the privilege to work alongside," Byerley said in the post. "Together, we have faced challenges and celebrated victories, always with the safety and well-being of our citizens at the forefront."
Byerley states that he looks forward to "less stress" and to spending more time with his family, the post says.
