STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A vehicle crash near the intersection of Arthur Kill Road and Zebra Place in Rossville on Wednesday afternoon resulted in a partially toppled utility pole, downed power lines, and a fallen transformer, leaving hundreds without electricity.

According to Con Edison’s outage map, 457 customers in the 10309 ZIP code lost power. Restoration was expected around 3 p.m.

“Our crews are responding to a report of an equipment failure and wires down near Arthur Kill Road and Zebra Place,” a spokeswoman for Con Edison said to Advance/SILive.com in a statement. “Currently, approximately 460 customers are impacted.
