AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A situation hitting close to home for many families: bullying in schools.

Last week, the family of 11-year-old sixth grader Aiden Lee announced that he had taken his own life after what they say after being tormented at Harlem Middle School.

Columbia County Schools say they cannot comment in detail while an investigation is underway, but the tragedy is sparking new questions about how bullying is handled locally.

Aiden’s parents told News 12 they are not ready to sit down for interviews, but they do have a mission—to share their son’s story in hopes of saving another child’s life.

His smile, now shared widely across social media, has become a symbol in the growing conversation about bullying and mental health.
