YAKIMA, Wash. - A Mabton woman has been convicted of first-degree animal cruelty in Yakima County for killing a dog.

Regina Marie Palomarez, 37, entered a guilty plea to animal cruelty charges on September 17.

Deputies responded to the 800 block of Vance Rd on June 3, 2025, after it was reported that Palomarez had stolen a dog and stomped on it twice on neighboring property, resulting in its death.

After being read her Miranda rights, Palomarez admitted to taking the dog and stomping on it but claimed she did not believe it was dead, according to court documents.

Palomarez has been convicted twice before for violating court orders, making this her third violation.

She is due back in court for sentencing October 1.
