LENOIR CITY, Tenn. (WVLT) - Lenoir City Schools officials are planning to expand Lenoir City Middle Intermediate School, giving students more room to learn.
Director of Schools Millicent Smith said the reason for the expansion is because the middle-intermediate school is at capacity with more than 700 students.
“Also our elementary school being pretty full,” Smith said. “If we need to add classrooms, we don’t have those classrooms available.”
Smith said both the elementary and middle schools are STEM certified so they need to be able support those courses to keep that status. That means needing a media center and more STEM labs for students.
Another issue is the school housing grades four through eight.
