MIDDLETON, Wis. (WKOW) -- Starting Oct. 1, car buyers will not be getting extra money back if they buy a new or used electric vehicle in Wisconsin.
The tax credits for electric vehicles were initially introduced in 2022 as part of the Biden administration's Inflation Reduction Act .
Under the law, new electric vehicles were eligible for a $7,500 credit and used vehicles were eligible for a $4,000 credit.
But as of Wednesday, those perks no longer exist due to President Donald Trump's spending bill that was signed in July.
Tax credits for solar and EV charging stations are the next to disappear as part of those cuts, with solar ending on Dec. 31 and EV charging station incentives ending June 30, 2026.
