CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - According to a survey by Consumer Reports, text and messaging scams have increased by 50% compared to last year.
The survey also found a sharp increase in scams targeting individuals aged 18 -29.
Kinsely Wardle is a student at Southeast Missouri State University, and she says she gets suspicious emails every day.
“There’s been a lot of emails that come through on my school e-mail, just from outside parties that are kind of pretending to be the school. Like, they’ll say SEMO, but they’re actually from a Gmail account or something else,” Wardle says.
