Jamie Carragher put Peter Schmeichel on the spot during CBS Sports’ Champions League coverage with a question about Chelsea’s Premier League title hopes.

A number of pundits identified Chelsea as dark horses in the title race before the season started after they won the Club World Cup over the summer.

Chelsea had a mixed 2024-25 campaign but ended up in a strong position after qualifying for the Champions League and winning the Europa Conference League.

The optimism that was building over the summer has quickly disappeared, however, with Enzo Maresca’s side only winning two of their first six league games.

Chelsea have only taken one point from their last two games, suffering back-to-back defeats to Manchester United and Brighton before Tuesday’s Champions League win over Benfica.
