HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Domestic Violence Action Center and its supporters are sign-waving to launch the start of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Sign-waving took place at the intersection of Bishop and South King Street on Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

The Domestic Violence Action Center says domestic violence is a complex issue that affects the community and it’s critical that people know where they can get help and resources.

The 31st annual Men’s March Against Violence will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. on the Iolani Palace Grounds.

Domestic violence can happen to anyone—regardless of age, gender, race, culture, or income—and it affects every neighborhood in Hawaii.

By raising awareness, Child & Family Services hopes to help more people recognize signs of abuse
