MADISON — Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin officially paused abortion services Wednesday, leaving just two independent Milwaukee clinics as the state's only abortion providers.

The pause comes after President Donald Trump's budget bill, which Planned Parenthood claims includes steep cuts to Medicaid, including a provision to defund the organization.

State Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison) and State Senator Kelda Roys (D-Madison) announced a bill to expand service at the state Capitol, calling the current situation a crisis.

"We're sounding the alarm, but we're also saying we can do something about this," Rep. Subeck said.

The bill would remove the following requirements on abortions:
