An Alterra man is facing felony charges, and a possible hate crime enhancement, after police say he threatened his neighbors with an AK-style rifle during a heated late-night dispute that rattled the neighborhood and sent three residents calling 911.

The disturbance unfolded around 9:15 p.m. Monday on Sage Brush Drive. Witnesses told dispatchers a heavy-set man was screaming and revving his vehicle up and down the street before ducking in and out of his house with what appeared to be an AK-47, according to Maricopa police.

When officers arrived, they found Anthony Christensen, 37, standing in front of his home. He was unarmed but “visibly agitated,” police said.
