WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Sedgwick County commissioners on Wednesday voted to approve buying the East Kellogg tag office location out of its lease three years early. The goal is to shorten wait times for customers and save the county money.
The vote approved the use of tag funds to buy out the lease, which allows County Treasurer Brandi Bailey to begin her plan to consolidate.
The original lease was set to expire in 2028, but the doors will now close at the end of the year.
"I have to cut somewhere, because we can no longer keep coming to the commission and ask them to use property tax money to support the tag offices," Baily said.
