DIBOLL, Texas (KTRE) - A new partnership between Diboll ISD’s Career and Technical Education program and Georgia Pacific will provide students an opportunity to earn certifications as soon as they graduate.
“Just having the opportunity straight out of high school to start working, and not just an entry-level job- having all the qualifications to have a job that’s higher,” said student Landon Rector, “I get to learn hands-on all this stuff.”
Rector joined the engineering and manufacturing class in his freshman year. He aspires to be an electrical engineer.
Students like him will be able to pursue two certifications within the class. A 22-hour electrical apprenticeship or a 20-hour electronic technology certificate. The courses are expected to begin late October.
