Honolulu firefighters rescued an injured male hiker at Olomana Ridge Trail in Kailua this morning.

The Honolulu Fire Department received a 911 call at 11:11 a.m. for an injured hiker at Olomana. A hiker in his 20s reportedly slid about 10 to 15 feet while hiking the trail and injured an ankle. The trail, also known as “Three Peaks,” is considered one of the more challenging and technical hikes on the island.

Warning signs are posted at the trailhead informing people that there have been six fatalities on the trail after the first peak.

HFD’s Air 1 helicopter crew was able to locate the hiker and airlifted him to a nearby landing zone, where care was transferred to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services.

EMS treated the hiker and took him a hospital in stable condition.
