EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The shutdown of the federal government could impact services for veterans across Rhode Island, according to Rucking for Roofs, a local nonprofit.
ABC6 spoke with Matt Vianna, who runs Rucking for Roofs, a nonprofit in East Providence that helps homeless veterans in Rhode Island.
He said nothing has been impacted yet, but that could change.
“The shutdown stops within those seven days, then we’re stasis quo, but if it goes further than those seven days, we could be looking at another grant freeze like we had at the beginning of the administration, which we’ll work through, but its getting ahead of it now, so if there is a problem, we can outsource it,” Vianna said.
The last shutdown was in 2018 and lasted 35 days.
