A Ogemaw County man is safely back home after state conservation officers used their search-and-rescue training to find him Wednesday afternoon.
A 70-year-old man who suffers from dementia wandered away from his home and into a wooded, rural area near County Highway F-18 and M-30 in Edwards Township around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources said in a press release.
The Ogemaw County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene with canine units and the Michigan State Police deployed a helicopter to canvass the area for a search of the missing man.
But it was one of four DNR conservation officers who responded to the area who ultimately found the man, authorities said. At 3:10 p.m., the missing man was located in a ditch about 100 yards from his home. The DNR sai
