CORNING, NY (WENY) -- Corning residents can learn more about efforts to clean up environmental contamination at three city parks.
The New York State Departments of Environmental Conservation and Health will hold an open-house style community availability session from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. on Thursday, October 16 at the Radisson Hotel in Corning.
There, residents can talk one-on-one with state officials about the soil investigation and plans for remediation and cleanup. Earlier this year, the NYS DEC identified Denison Park, McKinney Park, and William Street/Hillvue Park as Superfund sites.
According to the DEC, soil samples from all three parks have come back positive for toxic materials in the soil, including arsenic, cadmium and lead. The agency said the contamination is linked to glass m
