King Frederik and Queen Mary have hosted a dinner for 50 VIPs from across Europe, welcoming the guests to Amalienborg in Copenhagen .

The King and Queen were seen greeting the arrivals outside of Christian VII's Palace on Wednesday, including Monaco's Prince Albert II and France's President Emmanuel Macron.

The 53-year-old chose two pieces of historic jewels only she can wear as Queen, both with a special link to her husband's late grandmother.
