Brown County homeowners could see a reduced county tax next year.

Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach presented his proposed budget Oct. 1 touting a "pretty significant drop" in the property tax rate that he said would become the lowest recorded rate in the county.

The County Board will meet Oct. 29 to approve the final budget.

Based on the proposal:

The budget levy would be $96.25 million next year, up from $94.53 million in 2025.

The equalized tax rate would go down to $2.66 next year from $2.80 in 2025. A $150,000 home would pay $399.86 and a $200,000 home would pay $533.14 next year.

In 2025, a $150,000 home's tax was $420 and a $200,000 home had a $560 tax.

Tax bills would also include additional taxes for the school district, municipality and Northeast Wisconsin Technical
