SALT LAKE CITY – A gas leak at the Taylorsville State Office Building on Wednesday prompted the evacuation of two buildings, officials said.

At approximately 12:40 p.m., authorities received information of the leak at 4314 S, 2700 W – the Taylorsville State Office Building, according to Capt. Tony Barker with the Unified Fire Authority

Barker said an excavator clipped a gas line, prompting two buildings to be evacuated.

Barker reported gas and natural gas readings showed both were present, and experts worked to seal the gas line.

On Wednesday afternoon, Barker said the gas was cleared and employees were back in the buildings.
