PLATTSBURGH, N.Y - (ABC22/FOX44) - Plattsburgh mayor Wendell Hughes said that after a temporary closure, the City of Plattsburgh Beach has been reopened to all visitors.
The closure was reportedly due to vandalism and garbage dumping on the beach, and was done for public safety reasons.
However, city officials say they did more than just clean up during the period the beach was closed - they also paved part of the beach boardwalk, removed a few trees that were posing safety risks, and installed new security cameras.
The beach was reopened on Tuesday, and will reportedly be open at 7:30 a.m. each day.
"Our community's support and cooperation allowed us to make necessary improvement and open the beach quickly and responsibly," said Hughes. He asked anyone who sees any suspicious activity
