Tickets to next year’s FIFA World Cup officially went on sale Wednesday, but nabbing a pair has not been easy.

Buyers are being selected out of 4.5 million applicants in a lottery that took place last month. The first batch of 1 million became available to those lucky enough to receive an email.

FIFA told NBC10 Boston fans have 48 hours after receipt of the email to buy tickets. The emails will continue to go out until a few days before the second wave starts on Oct. 27.

Each person who received the email to buy tickets can purchase four per match and a total of 40 per tournament.
