OMAHA, Neb. —
It can't feel like Halloween without a new bat species flying around Nebraska.
Wildlife experts said a free-tailed bat was found on a tree in Blue Hill.
This is the first recorded free-tailed bat in the state.
The little one was taken to the Nebraska Wildlife Rehab Center where she's recovering.
"She's a very interesting bat that's usually in the Southwest, the desert Southwest. Basically she'll recover here, and then we'll work with state governments to decide how we get her back to her home range," said Laura Stastny.
The bat won't be released back in Nebraska because it wouldn't survive the winter.
