HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Staff Sgt. Alonzo Alcantara will spend 26 years in prison in Leavenworth, Kansas, for killing his wife in September 2024.
Alcantara took a plea deal and admitted using a martial arts technique that he learned from the Marines, a rear naked chokehold, to kill Ruby Tenorio Alcantara in their home at Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
Their 8-year-old son witnessed the violence and their younger daughter was also in the home at the time.
Alcantara did not show any emotion at his court martial hearing Tuesday as the victim’s sisters read impact statements.
“No amount of time will make it hurt less,” said Carolina Jerome.
Another sister who wanted to be identified only by her first name, Monica, told HNN Investigates that she was angry during the proceeding. She did not b
