The Afghan women’s soccer team hasn’t been able to play since the Taliban returned to power in 2021. Now, FIFA has announced the Afghan women’s refugee squad in an unprecedented step. CNN’s Amanda Davies met with several of the exiled players in the UK and learned about their yearslong fight for recognition, and why football remains such a lifeline for them.
