INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis fundraiser is helping a family rebuild after their home was severely damaged in a July fire.
It will also help fund "Survive Alive," a local nonprofit program's fire prevention and education initiative.
The past three months have been hard for Chris Mendoza and his family. On July 4, Mendoza noticed his neighbor's house was engulfed in flames. The fire then spread to his home, flames crawling up the side of the house.
"I panic," Mendoza said. "I yell for my family. I wake them up and we all just run out. We don't think about anything."
Mendoza and his family made it out unharmed but the damage to house was severe.
