Around 500 firefighters and family members took to the streets of Perth ’s CBD on Thursday to protest pay and working conditions as negotiations between the industry and the Government continue to drag on.

The firefighters union has warned more industrial action is on the cards if the State Government does not come to the table with an acceptable offer.

There were chants demanding better pay during the march and signs were held up by firefighters and their families decry the initial pay offer.

At the centre of concerns is the pay rise, the union is demanding a $2 an hour raise for senior firefighters, the Government’s initial offer was just 40 cents an hour.

The union also called for better health and safety rules to protect workers along with the establishment of a work value
