Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday (October 2) sent across a stern warning to Pakistan over its recent expansion of military infrastructure in the disputed Sir Creek area.

Singh threatened that any “misadventure” by Pakistan would be met with a “resounding response” that could change both “history and geography”.

What is the Sir Creek dispute?

Sir Creek is a 96-km-long tidal estuary between Gujarat’s Rann of Kutch and Pakistan. It is considered a disputed territory due to varying interpretations of maritime boundary lines by the two sides.
