PORTSMOUTH — The oldest continuously existing library in the city is holding its first book sale in nearly a decade on Oct. 12.
Expect to see lots of 19th-century books weeded from the Portsmouth Athenaeum 's collection, as well as history titles, and books donated by members of the 208-year-old nonprofit membership library and museum. There will also be postcards and other ephemera.
The sale is from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 170 State St., next to Temple Israel (look for the garage door). There is no parking in front lot; spaces are available in rear in the Temple Israel lot.
Cash, credit card, Apple pay, Google pay Cash App and Venmo will be accepted. No checks.
