Oakland Community College will celebrate the opening of their new Culinary Studies Institute next week at the Royal Oak Campus.
An opening will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17 to introduce their new $74 million, three-story expansion.
The brand-new 78,000 square-foot facility features three classrooms, two demonstration kitchens and five teaching kitchens.
“This facility makes us more competitive. We have the premier culinary teaching facility in Michigan. It’s cutting-edge and truly reflects the talent of our faculty and students,” said Doug Ganhs, culinary department chairman and instructor. “To have the best of the best equipment, all the bells and whistles, really allows us to show students where the industry is headed and the wave of the future.”
It also includes a 2,372-
