The British band Elbow hasn’t toured the U.S. in five years, and hasn’t played in the Detroit metro area in eight.
But frontman Guy Garvey hopes nobody’s out of joint about the award-winning quintet’s absence.
“My son’s about 8 years old, so that’s a part of it, and there was that annoying pandemic, of course,” Garvey, 51, says via Zoom from London. “Other than that, it’s just getting on with it. Life accelerates, and at the same time, I can’t believe it’s been so long since we’ve been there. It doesn’t feel that long, but I’m also keenly aware I want to do it more often than less.”
