BENGALURU: Nineteen electric bikes were burnt to ashes after a fire broke out at a commercial building at Yelachenahalli in the city early on Thursday morning. It is suspected that the charging point overheated, leading to the fire.
The fire occurred at a three-story building on Kanakapura Main Road, which housed an EV bike charging point. The fire started in the basement where the charging point was located. A gas cylinder in the basement is suspected to have leaked due to the explosion. Six LPG cylinders had been kept in the basement.
Two fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the fire before it spread to other parts of the building. The Kumaraswamy Layout police visited the spot and are investigating the incident.
