CLEVELAND — Detroit Tigers right-hander Jack Flaherty is a World Series champion.
He won the 2024 title with the Los Angeles Dodgers , and less than one year later, the Tigers are counting on him to keep their 2025 championship hopes alive.
Flaherty is set to start , in a winner-take-all Game 3 on Thursday, Oct. 2 (3:08 p.m., ABC) in the American League wild-card series against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field. The winner will advance to the ALDS against the Seattle Mariners , which begins Saturday.
The loser won't play again until 2026.
