Mumbai: Housing sales in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and Pune fell sharply in the July–September quarter, with transactions down 17 per cent to 49,542 units, according to real estate data firm PropEquity. The slowdown has been attributed to rising property prices, which have tempered demand. Notably, in the same quarter last year, 59,816 homes were sold.

The report noted that Thane witnessed the steepest fall in primary housing sales, plunging 28 per cent to 14,877 units from 20,620 units in the previous year. Mumbai city registered an 8 per cent drop, with 9,691 units sold compared with 10,480 earlier, while Navi Mumbai reported a 6 per cent decline to 7,212 units from 7,650.
