In the quick aftermath of Milan Zarkovic’s departure to UCLA, Hawaii men’s volleyball coach Charlie Wade turned to a coach he had been in contact with for much of the summer.

Donan Cruz, who had served as a head coach for 14 straight seasons before resigning at Ball State earlier this year, has joined the Hawaii men’s volleyball coaching staff in Zarkovic’s place, UH announced on Wednesday.

Eight days after the announcement of Zarkovic’s departure, UH has added an experienced head coach with Hawaii ties who recently was on the coaching staff of the USA Volleyball U21 team, which took bronze at the FIVB World Championship last month in China.
