REDDING, Calif. - Shasta County supervisors have voiced their opposition to Proposition 50, a statewide ballot measure that could change the way congressional districts are drawn in California. The measure is set to appear on the November 2025 ballot.
If Proposition 50 passes, it would transfer the power to draw California’s congressional maps from the Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission to the state legislature.
Shasta County supervisors voted to oppose the measure, citing concerns that it would divide communities, diminish rural representation, and burden taxpayers with significant costs.
