PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Today will likely be the hottest day this week in the Valley and across the state, with significant cooling expected by the weekend.

Strong high pressure building over the Desert Southwest will bring Valley temperatures back to triple digit territory today. Look for morning temperatures in the 70s to climb to 101 degrees this afternoon. That’s 6 degrees above normal for this time of year in Phoenix.

Tomorrow will be nearly as warm with a high of about 100 degrees. High pressure will begin weakening and shifting and winds will pick up across Arizona as a trough of low pressure begins to move onshore to our northwest.
