Loreynzo Sanchez is among the leaders in the state for rushing yards after six games.
The Polk County senior said he nearly transferred after a bad 2024.
COLUMBUS — After the locker room culture at Polk County suffered in 2024, senior running back Loreynzo Sanchez nearly left the program.
Instead, his mom convinced him to play one last year with his teammates.
Named a captain in 2025, Sanchez dug in for the summer, doubling his conditioning and work ethic. It’s paid off for him. With 1,183 rushing yards and nine touchdowns in six games, Sanchez has become one of North Carolina’s best running backs .
“Over the summer I kept grinding,” Sanchez said. “After that, you see the numbers you’re putting up now. It lets you know hard work does pay off.” Stream North Carolina HS football gam
