RAIPUR: Six people, including two women, were killed in separate lightning strike incidents in Chhattisgarh’s Gariyaband and Raigarh districts on Wednesday evening. The victims were struck during sudden thunderstorms that swept through the region, shocking villagers and once again highlighting how lightning remains the state’s deadliest natural hazard.According to local accounts, in Raigarh district two youths tending cattle and two others returning home from fields were killed instantly when lightning struck, while three goats also perished in the same strike. In Gariyaband, two women lost their lives under similar circumstances as evening storms caught them unprepared. The fresh deaths follow a series of recent incidents across the state.
