The majority of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and most of Citizenship and Immigration Services employees are staying on the job despite the ongoing government shutdown .

With the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, CBP and ICE, both of which fall under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, likely will have more cushion to stay fully operational during the government shutdown, according to an analysis by Aaron Reichlin-Melnick for the American Immigration Council .
